Making pants is hard

e. st v. millay
When did the pattern companies decide that everyone wants to wear really baggy clothes, so they should add five inches of ease to everything? The size charts tell me to make an 18, I cut out a 16 for the skirt, when it was too big I went with a 14 for the pants, with the curvy shape option. And they're still too big! Well, they fit well in the butt, but I've taken about three inches off the thighs. Whyyyyyyyy. And can we connect this to the decline in home sewing? I think so.

They're a fairly heavy polyester, though, so ... not going to breathe very well. But they'll be great for working in an extra-cold section of a grocery store.

ETA; Pants almost done! I just have to put some kind of a hook on the fly and hem the bottoms. They were easier than I expected but just because I expected them to be REALLY hard (I feel I've said this before ...). I need to go get those ball point needles exchanged so I can start making t-shirts, since my goal is to replace all the crappy bits of my wardrobe. There are a bunch of t-shirts in my dresser that should be thrown out.
